Program structure

You're working to achieve an educational milestone while trying to balance a career and family. We understand you have obligations, and we structure our program accordingly. A hallmark of our program is a lock-step format with classes held every other week Friday and Saturday. Not only does this accommodate your schedule, it maintains consistency and keeps you in contact with your professors and peers.

To effectively prepare you for the program, a one-day executive orientation is required before classes begin. At the orientation you will meet fellow classmates and faculty, receive your textbooks and first class assignment, and gain an understanding of what to expect during the program. We also encourage spouses or supportive guests to attend.

The Tuscaloosa Program

The Tuscaloosa Program is 4 semesters in length and in addition to the Friday/Saturday every other week format will require a one-week immersion session in each of the first three semesters. All classes for the Executive MBA Tuscaloosa Program will be held on our campus at the Bryant Conference Center. Students choosing the lodging option will stay at the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton, located adjacent to the Bryant Conference Center. The Huntsville Program

The Huntsville Program is a 5 semester program and will only meet on Fridays and Saturdays, every other week. Classes for the Executive MBA Huntsville Program will be held on the University of Alabama Huntsville campus at the Business Administration Building. Students choosing the lodging option will stay at the Hilton Garden Inn (Huntsville/Space Center) in Huntsville. During the final semester, both the Tuscaloosa and Huntsville Program classes will come together for an international study abroad trip.

Classwork/Study Teams

Coursework is a mixture of individual and team assignments. Cases, projects, simulations, presentations, and written assignments may be required as part of the class assignments.

Students work in study teams while in the program. Generally teams meet on Friday evenings after class or decide at the beginning of the program on how they will collaborate: face to face, conference call or online.

E-learning Online Course Software

E-learning is a new online tool that will be integrated into the curriculum as another way for students to interact with classmates and the instructor outside of the classroom environment. The e-learning Web site acts as an online data repository for class materials as well as a location to hold online meetings and participate in message board-type discussions. This resource gives students an additional way to discuss and learn about topics once the class has concluded and address any questions that arise outside of class.

Guest Speakers

As part of the EMBA Program, guest speakers are invited to present to our EMBA students. Senior-level executives are invited to speak during the academic year on current topics of interest. In addition, faculty also invite guest speakers into the classes.
